The
National Nutrition Service (NNS) and Public Health Nutrition Institute under
the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will launch a nationwide
"National Vitamin A Plus Campaign" from June 5 to June 19, 2021.
At the
meeting of the Steering Committee for Nutrition Implementation in the Ministry
of Health on May 24, it was decided to carry out the National Vitamin A Plus
Campaign across the country in compliance with the highest health rules of the
year.
The
National Vitamin A Plus Campaign will provide a blue capsule of 50,000 IU to
children aged 6-11 months and a red capsule of 100,000 IU to children aged
12-59 months from 9 am to 4 pm in compliance with hygiene regulations.
The
campaign will be conducted daily at all EPI centers and permanent health centers
in the country.
According
to the prescribed EPI schedule, in 8 sub-blocks of each ward, 6 working days of
the week, 2 days of EPI immunization program will not be disrupted and the
remaining 4 days scheduled EPI centers will be phased out by the health
assistant, family welfare assistant and volunteers.
In
addition, children will be given vitamin A capsules at community clinics and
other government health centers. These activities will also be conducted at EPI
centers in municipal and city corporation areas.
At the
same time, the parents or guardians of the children coming to the center will
be informed about the nutrition. There will be no mobile vaccination center in
this campaign. Physical distance and hygiene (wearing a mask, washing hands
with soap for 20 seconds, use of sanitizer) will be ensured due to the outbreak
of Covid-19 epidemic.
