This year, three economists, Daron Akemoglou, Simon Johnson and James Robinson, won the Nobel Prize in Economics. On Monday, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sweden announced the names of these three economists as the 2024 Nobel laureates.

The Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences announced the names of these three economists as this year's Nobel laureates in the economics department at 11:45 local time on Monday (October 14) in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The three economists have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics this year for their special contributions to the study of the process of institution building and its impact on the development of states, the academy said.

The Nobel Prize in Economics has been awarded since 1969. The real name of this award is Sevrigs Riksbank Prize. But it is recognized worldwide as the 'Nobel of Economics' as the award is given in memory of Alfred Nobel.

The award has been given by the Swedish Royal Academy since its inception. As such, they received the 66th Nobel Prize this time. These three will share the prize of 10 million Swedish crowns or 1 million dollars.
