Police in riot gear storm Myanmar, shoot dead 2

Myanmar police shot dead at least two protesters Sunday and wounded several others in one of the bloodiest days since the military seized power on February 1.
At least two people were killed in police firing on protesters and wounded several others were a doctor and a politician in the country told Reuters a local news agency.
A photo posted on the media shows several people being arrested and removed from protests in Yangon, Myanmar's largest city, with some of their bodies covered in blood.
It is unknown how they got hurt but the media has mentioned shots being fired. People are being 'shot', according to the Myanmar Nao media group; But they did not give any details.
A man with a gunshot wound to the chest was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital, a doctor said on condition of anonymity. Mizzima media channel also reported about the death.
Witnesses said police were using stun grenades and tear gas and firing blank shots.
Police in the southern city of Dawei have shot dead one person and injured several others, local politician Kiao Min-hotik said.
Local media outlet Daui Watch also reported that one person was killed and more than a dozen were injured.
Police in riot gear stormed a rally in Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city, on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.
Police and a spokesman for the ruling military council were called in for comment, but no one responded, Reuters reported.
Although Aung San Suu Kyi's party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), won a landslide victory in the November general election, the army seized power on 1 February, accusing it of rigging the election without recognizing it. Elected leader Suu Kyi and most of the NLD leaders were arrested and detained. Since then, unrest has been raging across Myanmar.
Protests against the military rule have been going on almost daily for more than three weeks since the coup. Millions of protesters have joined the protests on some days. Western nations have condemned the coup, and some have imposed limited sanctions.
Authorities opposed the protest with all available police forces, special services, and the army. "
Even then, three protesters and a policeman were killed in violence surrounding the protests until Saturday.
