The eight-year-old rape victim from Magura has died. She succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka at 1pm on Thursday, the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) confirmed in a statement.
She was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of the hospital. Previously, she went into cardiac arrest four times on Wednesday and twice on Thursday.
The child was raped at her sister's house on March 5. At first, she was admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital. As her condition continued to deteriorate, she was admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, then Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and lastly to CMH.
Her mother filed a case against four people. Police arrested the girl's brother-in-law Sajib, 18, Sajib's brother Ratul, 17, their father Hitu Mia, 42, and mother Jabeda Begum, 40.
