UPL founder Mohiuddin Ahmed no more

The country's famous publisher Mohiuddin Ahmed is no more. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. The 6-year-old man, the head of publishing house University Press Limited (UPL), breathed his last at his home in the capital at around 1am on Monday.

The matter has been confirmed by Farid Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Knowledge and Creative Publishers Association. He said 6-year-old 'Emeritus Publisher' Mohiuddin Ahmed had been suffering from Parkinson's disease for a long time.

‘He has been ill for a long time. He lived at home. A few days ago he was attacked by Corona. However, he recovered from it. He left us last night, ”added Farid Ahmed.

According to family sources, his janaza will be held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan after Johar on Tuesday, after which he will be buried at Banani Cemetery.

Mohiuddin Ahmed was born in 1944. His career began with journalism. He later taught journalism at the Punjab University in Lahore. He later joined Oxford University Press as the editor of the Pakistan branch.

After independence, he became the Chief Executive of Oxford University Press, Bangladesh. He has been the publisher and managing director of University Press Limited since its inception.

He was awarded a gold medal by the National Library in 1991 for his special contribution to book publishing.
