To Indians, Bangabandhu is a hero: Modi
On the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to him. Narendra Modi tweeted on Wednesday paying homage to Bangabandhu. He tweeted this separately in both Bengali and English.
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi wrote in his tweet, ‘My sincere respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the defender of human rights and freedom, on his birth anniversary. He is considered a hero to all Indian citizens. '
Narendra Modi tweeted that it was an honor for him to visit Bangladesh later this month to mark the historic Mujib Year. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Dhaka on March 26, news agency BSS reported.
On the occasion of Bangabandhu's birthday and the golden jubilee of independence, the 10-day program 'Mujib Chirantan' is starting today, Wednesday.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohammed Salih, Nepalese President Vidya Devi Bhandari and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotte Shering are making physical appearances in Dhaka for the 10-day festival with the people of Bangladesh.
Also the Chinese President Xi Jinping, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, South Korean Prime Minister Chung Su-quen, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, OIC Secretary General Youssef Ahmed Al-Othaimin and Pope Francis will virtually attend the ceremony.
The 10-day event at the National Parade Ground has various themed events every day. For five days, the top leaders of South Asia will be the special guests. President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give speech. In addition, the remaining five days of video speeches will be given by the top leaders of different countries and the chief executives of international organizations. There will be cultural programs every day.
