Tidal water enters Chattogram port yard

Under the influence of the full moon and Cyclone Yaas, tidal water has entered the yard of Chattogram port flooding several units.

At around 12 noon on Wednesday, water entered from Maheshkhal adjacent to the port's yard No 5, port sources said.

The NCT, CTT referral unit and ICD unit of the port were submerged underwater.

Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Md Omar Faruk told TBS, "Tidal water enters the port yard at a height of about 6 to 8 inches. However, there is no possibility of spoiling the product filled containers. The water will go down at low tide."
