Three died after fire broke out in DMCH


Three patients who were shifted to the ICU of Covid Ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital after the fire have died. The fire started on the third floor of the new building of the hospital at around 8 am on Wednesday and was brought under control by the fire service at around 9.30 pm. Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Brigadier General Nazmul Haque said there were 14 patients in 14 ICU rooms. After the fire they were transferred to another ICU of the hospital. “All the patients there were in critical condition. They were on ventilation. Soon after the fire broke out, they were quickly evacuated to the ICU of the old building and the HDU of the burn unit. The three who died were in critical condition. It has nothing to do with fire. ”

Kamrul Hasan, an officer at the fire service control room, said five of their units rushed to the scene after receiving news of the blaze. At 9:35 a.m. they brought the fire under complete control. "The ICU world on the third floor of the ten-story building was for corona patients. One patient was trapped. The fire service rescued him,” Kamrul added.
