The Walk to Independence begins

The historical month of independence begins today with a reminder of the brutal genocide carried out by the Pakistani army in the country from March to mid-December in 1971.

All Bangladeshi, however, consider this month as the entrance to their independence and they are all set to celebrate the 50th Independence Day on March 26.

For this time around, the month has significance like never before, since it is not only limited to the celebration of independence, but also leads to the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The 100th birth anniversary of the architect of Bangladesh is on March 17. On this occasion, Bangladesh will celebrate Mujib Borsho from March 17, 2020, to March 26, 2021.

Through the year long program, the government plans to present Bangabandhu’s life and works to the people, especially the new generation, and the whole world.

Forty-nine years ago, the nation betrothed in the Liberation War under the leadership of Bangabandhu and earned sovereignty on December 16, following a nine-month bloodshed.

The struggle for independence started escalating from the beginning of March when the then Pakistani rulers postponed the scheduled March 3 session of the National Assembly.
