Teacher beaten to death: Section 144 issued in Khagrachari headquarters

Section 144 has been imposed in Khagrachari Sadar Upazila till further orders.

It has been informed that this order will be effective from 3 pm on Tuesday (01 October).

Khagrachari Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sujan Chandra Roy confirmed the matter.

Earlier, Khagrachari Technical School and College teacher Abul Hasnat Muhammad Sohail Rana was taken to the school principal's room and beaten to death on charges of attempted rape. In this incident, there is tension between the hill and Bengali communities of the district.

Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sujan Chandra Roy, Sadar Circle ASP Toufiqul Alam, Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Baten Mridha have been injured so far while dealing with the situation.

In this regard, UNO Sujan Chandra Roy said that the situation in the district is at a standstill. Army, police and BGB are on the ground to restore law and order.

As of writing this report at 5:15 pm, tense situation is prevailing in Khagrachari town.
