After much anticipation, the popular music streaming service Spotify was finally launched in Bangladesh along with 85 other countries. After several months of launching the verified Bangladeshi official page on Facebook, the wait for music lovers started. Because they did not announce when they would launch officially to Bangladesh. But last night the company's CEO Daniel Ek said it was going to enter the international market on a larger scale. Following this, their premium service is going to be launched in 85 new countries and it will be done in a few days. Less than 24 hours later, it was officially launched in Bangladesh.
Although Spotify was not available for the Bangladeshi region for a long time, many people have been using it by buying premium plans through various third parties with the help of VPN. Nevertheless, the songs of many Bangladeshi bands/solo artists have been available on Spotify for a long time.
Free vs Premium
Spotify has introduced both the free and the premium services available for the Bangladeshi market. But the free account has some limitations. For example, the free subscription comes with ads and in one hour only 6 tracks can be skipped. On the other hand, subscribers can download music in higher quality at premium subscriptions for listening to them while offline. There are also some minor features for premium plans only. Both free / premium plans can be streamed from desktops and phones.
Premium Plans
Spotify has come up with a total of 4 plans for the Bangladesh market. One of which is exclusive for students. But to enjoy the student plan, the subscribers will have to go through a rigorous verification process. First of all, if the educational institution is not enlisted it’s not possible to subscribe to the student service. On the other hand, several documents are necessary for uploading. The advantage of this plan is that students can enjoy all the premium features for only BDT99 per month. We will try to come up with a detailed article on how to get student verification.
One of the remaining 3 plans is called Individual, the other two are Duo and Family. For the individual service, subscribers will have to pay BDT199. And the fee for the Duo is BDT270 and BDT319 will be charged consecutively for the Family plan. The Duo will support a maximum of 2 people while Family Plan will support an account of 6 people. For individuals, there is not much difference in the features of the other two except the playlist.
