Shrimp Sculpture inaugurated in Chakaria
A shrimp sculpture has been inaugurated at the entrance of Chakaria Municipality office in Cox's Bazar. Visitors have flocked there since the inauguration of this sculpture, which is made by uninterrupted fountains and is a sight to behold with colorful lights at night. Many people are standing in front of the shrimp sculpture and uploading pictures on social media.
Md. Mujibur Rahman, Assistant Engineer, Chakaria Municipality, said that the construction of this traditional shrimp sculpture has cost Tk. 620,000.
Municipal Secretary Masood Morshed said the sculpture was built on the initiative of Municipal Mayor Alamgir Chowdhury. Funds have been allocated for the construction of the sculpture from the development fund of the municipality.
Mayor Alamgir Chowdhury said that the tradition of Cox's Bazar and Chakaria is the shrimp industry. Shrimp here is making a huge contribution to the country's economy. So this shrimp sculpture made will glorify future generations.
The municipal secretary further said that the sculpture was officially inaugurated by Cox's Bazar-1 MP and Chakaria Upazila Awami League president Zafar Alam on Friday afternoon. Mayor Alamgir Chowdhury, Awami League leader Nurul Abchar, Upazila Vice Chairman Makshudul Haque Chuttu, Women Vice-Chairman Jasmine Haque Jesse Chowdhury, Municipality Panel Mayor Bashirul Ayub, Councilor Jamal Uddin, Mujibul Haque, Forkanul Islam Titu, Anjuman Ara were present on the occasion. League leader Mosleh Uddin Manik and others.
