Shawn Mendes Foundation partners with Footsteps to ensure safe water in Bangladesh
The Shawn Mendes Foundation, founded by Canadian singer-songwriter and global celebrity Shawn Mendes, has partnered with Footsteps, a Bangladesh-based NGO, to ensure safe water in Bangladeshi schools.
In a Facebook post on his public profile, Footsteps founder Shah Rafayat Chowdhury said: “The Shawn Mendes Foundation has selected us as a recipient of its Wonder Grant for Project Trishna, through which we will set up safe water systems in schools within marginalized communities and provide safe water for children across Bangladesh.”
“A big thank you to Shawn and his foundation for believing in our mission, and I strongly believe together we'll ensure safe water as a basic right for all in Bangladesh,” he added.
The grant was also officially announced by a post on the Facebook page of Shawn Mendes Foundation earlier on Friday.
The Footsteps foundation, co-founded by Shah Rafayat Chowdhury - also recipient of the prestigious Diana Award - is a social enterprise focusing on development, aiming to address social challenges and improve health, environment and education in Bangladesh.
The Shawn Mendes Foundation aims to “amplify, empower, and uplift youth changemakers, their organizations and their work,” according to its official website.
