Shamser Mobin Chowdhury arrested
Trinamool BNP Chairman Shamser Mobin Chowdhury has been arrested by the police.
He was arrested from the DOHS house in Banani in the capital on Thursday (October 17) afternoon.
A source from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) confirmed the arrest of Shamser Mobin. Earlier in the afternoon, members of the law enforcement agencies went to his house. Shamser Mobin confirmed this.
He told the media on telephone at around 2:20 pm, 'Several members of the law and order force came to my house in white clothes. Two of them are in police uniform. They want to take me to the DB office.'
Earlier on Wednesday, Shamser Mobin Chowdhury was prevented from going abroad by members of law and order forces. When he tried to go abroad with his wife, they were turned away from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Freedom fighter Shamser Mobin Chowdhury was once the vice chairman of BNP. In 2015, he resigned from all posts of BNP. Then in 2018, the Alternative Movement led by former President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury joined Bangladesh. He became the chairperson of Trinamool BNP founded by Nazmul Huda in September 2023 before the national elections on January 7.
