Shakib granted 2 day leave from team camp
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has been granted a two-day leave from the ongoing national team camp for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka later this month.
Though the squad for the series reported Sunday and had their first training session in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Monday, Shakib has been with his family in the USA. Shakib is scheduled to join the team in the port city Wednesday. Another member of the Test squad, Mosaddek Hossain, is also yet to join the team. Mosaddek is scheduled to join following the two-day practice game against visitors Sri Lanka. “Bangladesh Cricket Board's cricket operations committee has approved his two-day leave. He [Shakib] is scheduled to reach Dhaka (Tuesday) and then join the team,” informed a close source of the national team Monday.
Hosts Bangladesh will lock horns with tourists Sri Lanka in the first Test of the series starting this Sunday at ZACS. The second and final Test will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from May 23. The Lankans reached Dhaka Sunday and had their first practice session at SBNCS Monday. The visiting side are scheduled to play a two-day practice game against a BCB XI Tuesday and Wednesday at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan. The two Tests are part of the World Test Championship.
