SAU ‘Baishakhi Chattar’ freed from parking
Baishakhi Chattar is also known as Fuchka Chattar to the students of Sylhet Agricultural University. The students of this agricultural university in Sylhet have been adapted to the name. Because, every day students gather and spend their precious time at the chattar at the end of their classes.
Baishakhi Chattar of SAU is always full of gossips, stories and songs. This is also the only place for students to sit. It is mostly known as Fuchka Chattar.
But recently it was being noticed that cars are being parked in the only free place in the campus. Hundreds of students could not find a suitable place to sit. There was no end to the complaints of the students.
“We come here for a break after class or whenever we get a chance,” said a horticulture student. This is the reason why this Chattar is popular for gathering. Our place of tranquility was occupied by car parking. Now it is rescued.
Baishakhi Chattar has been has been freed from parking. It also looks beautiful now. Baishakhi Chattar will get its life back again. This arena of life will be the talk of the town.
In the wake of the allegations, the matter was initiated by the SAU Journalists Association, the Student Counseling and Guidance Office, Proctor and Chairman of the Security Committee, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Malek, when it was brought to his notice. Upon receiving such allegations, the SAU administration took immediate action.
In this regard, the chairman of the security committee, Prof. Md. Abdul Malek told the press association that we will soon go to observe the Baishakhi Chattar.
He later visited the site along with the security branch, proctorial body and student counseling and guidance office to find out the truth.
At the end of the inspection, he said, the issue of car parking in Baishakhi Chattar is undesirable. We instructed the vehicles to move elsewhere. This has happened due to lack of space in the university. I am also taking steps to issue a 'No Parking' notice so that no more parking is allowed here.
At the end of it all, he thanked the SAU Journalists Association for bringing the matter to his notice.
Shiuli Sinha, a post-graduate student, said, 'We have been noticing the issue of car parking at Baishakhi Chattar since days.' After all, there is less space for us to sit and then car parking here is annoying.
Finally, the place of the students relief has been cleared of parking. The students thanked the SAU administration for taking swift action.
