Bangladesh fast bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin said he is optimistic to bowl well in the tough New Zealand conditions though it is always difficult to do well as an opponent in New Zealand soil compared to other countries.
Saifuddin also said that the foreign teams are seen struggling in New Zealand's condition in the past especially those who play from the sub-continent.
“Of course, if you bowl well in any condition, you can do well on any wicket. If you don’t bowl in line and length it will be bad, it’s normal. I will try to give my basics whatever happens." Saifuddin told the media.
Although Saifuddin did well in bowling, he still could not spark with the bat. Although he didn't pay much attention to batting, he is very serious about bowling. "Yes, of course, bowling is my first skill, so I’m more serious about it, I hope to do well,” he said.
Bangladesh has already announced the squad against New Zealand. There are 7 fast bowlers including Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Al Amin Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman in the team. However, the all-rounder is not worried about getting a place in the team.
“No, I’m not thinking about it, it will be decided after looking at the condition of the wicket. But, I’m optimistic about the opportunity. If I get a chance, I will try my best.” he added.
The first ODI between Bangladesh and hosts New Zealand will be played at the University of Otago Oval, Dunedin on March 20. The second ODI will be held at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on March 23 while the third will be played at Basin Reserve, Wellington on March 26. The three-T20 series will be played in Hamilton, Napier, and Auckland respectively on March 28, 30, and April 1.
