Rear Admiral Ashraful joins Coast Guard as 13th DG
Rear Admiral Ashraful Haque Chowdhury on Tuesday joined the Bangladesh Coast Guard as its 13th director general. An order was issued by the public administration ministry on August 17 appointing the naval officer and assigning him to the public security division under the home ministry.
The Coast Guard headquarters media spokesperson Lieutenant Commander Amirul Haque confirmed the joining.
The navy officials said immediate past director general Rear Admiral Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haq would return to the navy headquarters and join Wednesday as the assistant chief of navy ( operations).
The new Coast Guard chief got his commission to the navy on January 1, 1988, to the executive branch and served at home and abroad.
He completed his missile command and tactics course, and strategic studies course in China, gunnery specialisation course in Pakistan, armed forces war course in National Defence College in Dhaka, combined forces maritime component commander flag officer course in United State Pacific Fleet headquarters.
Ashraful Haque also served as an observer at the United Nations peacekeeping mission.
He was promoted to the rank of rear admiral on February 7 this year and before the posting to the Coast Guard, he was the commander of Khulna naval region.
