Rain, thundershowers likely


Bangladesh meteorological Department (BMD) on Friday predicted rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind in several parts of the country in next 24 hours ending at 9am on Saturday.

“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and the regions of Jessore and Kushtia with hails at isolated places until early tomorrow,” said a met office press release issued on Friday morning.

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, the release added.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Besides, mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Madaripur, Rangamati, Feni and Moulvibazar and it may abate from some places.

The maximum temperature was recorded 37.6°C on Thursday in Jessore while Friday’s minimum temperature 24°C in Sylhet.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6am on Friday was recorded 11mm in Sylhet.

The sun sets at 6:21pm on Friday and rises at 5:35am on Saturday in Dhaka.
