Rahul also got relief in the court after showing a surprise in the polls

Indian media Anandabazar reports that Rahul has been granted bail in a defamation case in a special court in Bangalore. He got bail on a bond given by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Sivakumar's brother DK Suresh.

Campaigning ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections in May 2023, Rahul had alleged that the ruling BJP government was charging 40 per cent commission for government work. Rahul also criticized Basraj Bombay's government as a '40 percent government'. Karnataka BJP general secretary Keshav Prasad went to court against the Congress leader's claim.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar got bail in this case on June 1. But lower court judge KN Shivakumar asked Rahul to appear in person. Rahul also got bail on Friday (June 7) after he appeared.
