RAB arrests Hifazat leader Khaled Saifullah

For connection with a case over recent violence in Dhaka’s Motijheel, RAB has been arrested Hifazat-e Islam Joint General Secretary Khaled Saifullah Ayubi. The Islamist leader was arrested from Manikganj on Thursday, according to RAB spokesperson ASP ANM Imran Khan.

Legal action will be pursued against the Hifazat leader, he added. Saifullah is the fifth Hifazat leader taken into custody in the past few days, following the arrests of Mamunul Haque, Ataullah Amin, Khurshid Alam Quasemi and Sharafat Hossain.

These arrests come in the wake of violence during Hifazat protests against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka.
