President mourns death of noted film actor ATM Shamsuzzaman

President M Abdul Hamid today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of noted film actor ATM Shamsuzzaman. In a condolence message, the President said, “The death of ATM Shamsuzzaman is an irreparable loss to the cultural arena of the country.” He said, “People will remember his contribution to flourishing the non- communal spirit in Bangladesh with due respect.”

The President prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. An Ekushey Padak winning artist, Abu Taher Mohammad (ATM) Shamsuzzaman popularly known as ATM Shamsuzzaman won the National Film Awards for five times during his long career.

The silver screen actor breathed his last at his Sutrapur residence in the capital early today at the age of 80.
