Potatoes, chickens, eggs prices gone up
• Broiler chicken price increased by Tk 30
• Potato price increased by Tk 5 to Tk 25
• Prices of all kinds of eggs has increased by Tk 5 to 10
Prices of potatoes, broiler chickens and eggs have gone up within a week. On the other hand, the prices of other products remain unchanged. Consumers worry rises due to continuous price hikes amid pandemic.
After a visit to capital’s Muslim Bazar, Mirpur Bazar No. 11, Mirpur Bazar No. 6, Mirpur Kalshi Bazar and Pallabi areas kitchen markets on Friday (June 18) morning, it has known that the prices of some essentials have gone up.
Eggplants are being sold at Tk 80 per kg, bitter gourd at Tk 80, tomato at Tk 60, yard long bean at Tk 70, ash gourd at Tk 40 to 50, sweet pumpkin at Tk 40, snake gourd at Tk 30, pointed gourd at Tk 40 to 50, lady finger at Tk 40 to 50, taro Tk 50, zucchini Tk 60, papaya Tk 40, teasle gourd Tk 70, cucumber Tk 40, green chili Tk 40. In addition, each piece of pumpkin is being sold at Tk 50 to 60, raw banana at Tk 25 to 30 and lemon at Tk 10 to 15. Meanwhile, the price of potato has been increased by Tk 5 to Tk 25 per kg. Besides, per kg onion is being sold at Tk 50 to 55.
In these kitchen markets per kg dried chillies are being sold at Tk 260, garlic at Tk 80 to 130 and ginger at Tk 100 with an increase of Tk 20. Turmeric is being sold at Tk 220. Sugar is being sold at Tk 75 per kg. Packet sugar is being sold at 78 to 80 tk per kg. BR-28 rice is being sold at Tk 48 to 50 per kg, miniket at Tk 60 to 62, nazirshail at Tk 62 to 65, coarse rice at Tk 45 to 48 and polao rice at Tk 90 to 100. Edible oil is being sold at 151 to 155 taka per liter. A half-liter oil bottle is being sold at Tk 80.
Dozens of red eggs are being sold at 105 to 110 taka. Dozens of duck eggs are being sold at 135 to 140 taka with an increase of 10 taka. Besides, a dozen golden (cock) chicken eggs are being sold for 150 taka. Ashik, an egg seller in Kalshi Bazar, told Bangladesh News that the import of eggs in the market is relatively low. The price is a little higher as the demand for eggs is high.
Golden (cock) chickens are being sold in the market at Tk 210 to 220 per kg. Last week, broiler chickens were sold at Tk 130, but now they are being sold at Tk 160, up by Tk 30. Besides, layer chickens are being sold at Tk 250 per kg. Mirpur No. 11 market chicken seller said. Rubel told Bangladesh News that chickens cannot come to the market in the rainy season properly. That is why the price of chicken is going up. The prices of beef and mutton, spices and other commodities remain unchanged in these markets. Mutton is being sold at Tk 700 to Tk 750 per kg and beef at Tk 600 per kg.
