Pori Moni to feature in Aronno Anwar’s first film

Pori Moni has signed a movie with noted television director Aronno Anwar for his first directorial film "Maa". The deal was signed yesterday at the actress' house. Based on a true story, the movie centers around the story of a mother as she struggles with the emotions of losing her seven-month-old baby who was declared dead in 1971. Here the central character of the mother will be played by "Bishwoshundori" actress Pori Moni.

The director gave a brief synopsis about the movie to media.

"My friend Pulok Kanti Barua and I have worked hard on writing the screenplay of the movie. The story focuses on the mother and for that, I wanted someone who was the right fit for the movie," mentions Anwar.

"Eventually, I read the screenplay to Pori Moni, and she immediately agreed to be part of my project. I was completely blown away by her reaction as actors tend to shy away from playing the role of a mother," added the director. "I truly respect Pori Moni as both an artiste and also as an actor. She has the voice and the attitude to speak up against the conventional hegemony persistent in society. I am truly happy that she agreed to be part of my first directorial venture."

Pori Moni also shared her excitement about being part of such a good script.

"It feels great to be part of a director's debut movie, as an artiste I always support and stand behind such directors. I have always been a fan of his work when I used to watch television and I am glad that he has written such a wonderful story," she said.

"It will be truly challenging for me to play the role of a mother as I lost my own mother at a very young age. However, the script was so enticing that I couldn't say no to it. I hope I will be able to perform my role to perfection," adds the actress.

"It feels great when I hear that a director is going to direct his for the movie. I always want to stand behind such directors. I remember Aronno Anwar since I used to watch his work in Television."

Pori Moni will start shooting for the movie in January.
