PM sends 1,000-kg mangoes to Indonesian president

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent 1,000 kilogrammes (kgs) of mangoes as a gift to Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Senior officials of the Bangladesh Embassy in Jakarta in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia handed over the mangoes on July 21, said a Bangladesh Foreign Ministry release here Sunday.

It said the Presidential Palace Protocol of President Secretariat, Personal Officer Staff of the President and Protocol Officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia received the delicious Bangladeshi fruit at the Merdeka Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

Earlier, the Bangladesh embassy received the mangoes from the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry.

The Bangladesh premier earlier sent mangoes as gifts to Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the release said.

She also sent the same gift to the Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Chief Minister of Indian state of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee and Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, it added.
