PM is always working for betterment of women: Chumki

Women's Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee Meher Afroz Chumki, MP, Thursday said the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is always working for the betterment of the country's womenfolk.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina first took initiative to add mother's name regarding identity of child apart from father's name...she set up community clinics in the villages for treatment of women," she said.

She said this while addressing a discussion on the upazila parishad premises on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Department of Women's Affairs and National Women's Organisation of Kaliganj Upazila unit in collaboration with Kaliganj Upazila Administration organised the discussion this afternoon with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Assadiqzaman in the chair.

Kaliganj Upazila Awami League General Secretary HM Abu Bakar Chowdhury, Bangladesh Film Association Vice-President Masud Parvez Rubel, Kaliganj Municipality Mayor SM Rabin Hossain, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shahina Akter, Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Shahnaz Akter, among others, were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the chief guest distributed 50 plastic dustbins at important places of Kaliganj Municipality.
