Peoples travel to India secretly through Daulatpur border
The smuggling of Bangladeshis through the Daulatpur border
in Kushtia has raised fears of infecting corona patients in the border area.
However, despite the intensification of BGB patrols in the border areas, the
law enforcement agencies have not been able to take legal action against the
illegal intruders and no additional surveillance has been observed. From a week
before Eid to Tuesday, a number of smugglers and Bangladeshis traveling to
Kerala, India, have smuggled into Bangladesh through the Daulatpur border. All
of them are residents of villages adjacent to Daulatpur border. The BGB
arrested one of them and handed him over to Daulatpur police station while he
was on his way back to Kerala.
It has been reported that Riazul Islam (30), son of Ishaq
Ali of Pakuria Bhangapara, Daulatpur Upazila, Matiur Rahman Moti (28), son of
Shukur Ali of Munshiganj, Kalu (26), son of Asad of Mahishkundi Mathpara and
Shaj (25) Several Bangladeshis are secretly entering Bangladesh illegally from
India and staying at their respective homes. The BGB of Ramkrishnapur BOP has
arrested a Bangladeshi named Biduch Mandal (40) from Mohammadpur border of
Ramkrishnapur Union on May 21 and handed him over to Daulatpur Police Station
on a case of illegal entry. He is the son of Kawshar Mandal of Bhagjot area. In
this regard, Daulatpur Police Station OC Nasir Uddin said that a case has been
filed against Biduch Mandal on behalf of BGB for going to India illegally.
Siraj Mandal, chairman of the Ramkrishnapur Union near the
border, said Bangladeshis do not have the opportunity to travel illegally
through India. However, drug trafficking and drug trafficking are still going
on as before. He said the BGB arrested a man named Biduch Mandal from Bhagjot
area while he was entering Bangladesh from Kerala through Mohammadpur border
and handed him over to the police station.
On the other hand, due to Daulatpur Upazila being adjacent
to the Indian border, the number of corona patients in Kushtia district has
been increasing since Eid. The rate of detection in the sample test has also
increased in the district. In addition to returning to the country legally from
India, there are reports of several people entering the country illegally
through the Daulatpur border. However, despite the increase in the number of
patients infected with corona, there is not much awareness among the people
here. Many do not follow the hygiene rules. Again, the administration has not
taken any additional steps or surveillance in this regard.
Since May 22, 146 people have returned to Kushtia from India
under special arrangements. Kushtia Civil Surgeon. HM Anwarul Islam said 3
corona patients were found among the returnees to India. One of them is in
critical condition and has been sent to Dhaka. But so far no Indian type of
corona has been identified in anyone's body. Besides, the genome sequence of
these samples has not been tested yet. The Civil Surgeon said that this test is
possible only in Dhaka. Authorities have been notified. People will come from
Dhaka and take samples. Then it can be confirmed. He added that the rate of
infection has recently increased as people do not follow the rules of hygiene
during Eid. The Civil Surgeon said that 10 days ago, the infection rate in the
sample was between 10 and 12 percent. It is now 13 to 16 percent.
Meanwhile, Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Saidul Islam said in response to a question whether any additional measures have been taken to prevent corona in Kushtia as a district bordering India.
