Pakistan to soon get Indian manufactured vaccine
Pakistan is going to get the corona vaccine produced in India soon. This information was given in the report of NDTV online on Wednesday quoting the source.
According to sources, Pakistan will get the 'Made in India' vaccine under the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).
Gavi is a public-private global health partnership to increase immunization in poor countries.
With the exception of Pakistan, all of India's neighbors have received vaccines made in India in one way or another. Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Maldives are vaccinating their people from India.
Last year, the United Gavy Alliance pledged to provide free vaccinations to 20 percent of the population is about 190 countries around the world. Pakistan is one of these countries.
Two corona vaccines have been approved in India so far. An Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. Which is being produced under the name 'Kovishield' by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India. The other is the ‘Covaxin’ vaccine, made locally by India Biotech.
According to media reports from both countries, Pakistan will get the Covishield vaccine Gavi produced at the Serum Institute of India.
Exactly how much Covishield vaccine Pakistan can get from India is being discussed. However, this number may be 4.5 crore doses. GAVI will give this vaccine to Pakistan free of cost.
According to a report in Pakistan's The Nation newspaper, the first shipment of Covishield Ticker could reach Pakistan in March.
Pakistan first received the corona vaccine from China last month. Then they started vaccination activities.
About six lakh people have been infected with a corona in Pakistan so far. 13,000 people have died in Corona in the country.
