Nusrat separated Munia from the rest of the family with the case

Nusrat Jahan, sister of Mosarat Jahan Munia, filed a case against her only brother and uncle at Kotwali police station in Cumilla for possession of ancestral property. With that case, Nusrat separated Munia from the rest of the family. Sister and brother-in-law Mizan Rahman took control of Munia alone. They use Munia for their own benefit.

Although Nusrat lived in a rented flat in Cumilla but for Munia she rented a luxurious flat in Gulshan for 1 lakh taka per month. Nusrat and her husband Mizanur Rahman submitted their National Identity Card (NID) card and other information to rent the flat.

People from different walks of life in Cumilla said Nusrat deliberately kept Munia away from her family. Munia’s brother Ashikur Rahman Sabuj and uncle Shahadat Hossain Selim also admitted the matter.

Anwar Hossain, a resident of Manoharpur area and a pharmacy businessman, said that freedom fighter Shafiqur Rahman, a resident of Manoradpur’sWazir Dighirpar area, was a respected man. As a freedom fighter, everyone in the area respected him and his family. But the exception was Nusrat. From the student life, various rumors about Nusrat spread in the area.

She used to work at the Jhawtala branch of Dutch Bangla Bank. In 2016, Nusrat was detained by police while she was found in an offensive condition with one of her colleagues at a house in Jhawtala area.

Police Inspector Salah Uddin was in the operation. Nusrat was released on bond in the custody of the branch manager of Dutch Bangla Bank. Later, Nusrat and the young man were transferred to a separate branch. From there Nusrat left the job and joined Padma Bank.

Nusrat’s brother Ashikur Rahman Sabuj said “Munia was the third of three brothers and sisters. She is 21-year old. She was studying in class XI of Mirpur Cantonment Public School and College. We have been cooperating as much as possible for the study on behalf of the family.”

“Meanwhile, my sister got acquainted with the accused Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun. After the introduction, Munia used to talk and meet the accused Sharun from time to time. I knew and heard these things from my sister before she was killed.”

He said “But it is a matter of great sorrow and regret that two years ago, my sister Nusrat Jahan (Tania) and her husband Mizanur Rahman rented a flat at house number 19 on road 120 in Gulshan using their NID cards. My sister Nusrat instructed my other younger sister Munia to stay in that house. At their direction Munia started living there. Her body was recovered from that house.”

According to a relative of Nusrat, the wedding anniversary of Nusrat and Mizan was celebrated at a restaurant in Cumilla just 7-day before Munia’s death. It costs Tk 95,000. Munia gave the whole money. Nusrat and her husband Mizan always put pressure on Munia for money. It is known that she even used to beat her for money. Munia has shared these matters with her friends at different times.

However, Munia’s brother Sabuj said, “I disliked Munia’s free movement from the very beginning. Nusrat and her husband would not let us know where Munia lived or what she does. Even the news of her death was not given at the beginning. At 6:49 pm I was informed that Munia had committed suicide. Nusrat and her husband hid a lot of information about Munia from me.”

Sabuj said “Nusrat sued me, my uncle, aunt and a few others for an equal share of our ancestral property. The case certainly created my distance with Nusrat and Munia. The case is still ongoing. After the death of my father in 2015, Nusrat took full control of Munia.”

Munia’s relatives said that after the death of her parents, her sister Nusrat and Brother-in-law Mizan was Munia’s only guardian. In their greed for money, they did not even try to find out where Munia’s life was going. On the contrary, Nusrat and her husband has taken away a large sum of money by giving her younger sister the freedom to do whatever she wants and wherever she wants to stay.

Nusrat said “Since I don’t have children, I raised Munia like my own child. Now propaganda is being spread against me demanding family guardianship. Everyone in Cumilla knows that there are disputes and lawsuits over property in our family. I have filed a case against my brother and uncle. This does not mean that the case has to be taken differently.”

The body of Mosarat Jahan Muniar (21) was recovered from a flat in Gulshan on April 26. Later, her sister filed a case with Gulshan police station alleging provocation to suicide.

On May 2, the brother of Mosarat Jahan Munia has filed a case accusing Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun, son of Chattogram-12 constituency lawmaker and whip ShamsulHoque Chowdhury, of murdering the college student.

Gulshan Police Station OC Abul Hasan is investigating the suicide incitement case of Munia. He said “A lot of information is coming in the investigation of the case. We are sorting them out.”
