NBR's 10 guidelines for alternative use of plastic


The Department of Internal Resources has issued 10 guidelines for the use of single-use plastic alternative products in the National Board of Revenue (NBR) office to control environmental pollution.

Recently, Senior Assistant Secretary of Internal Resources Department. This instruction was given in the order signed by Samim Ahsan.

According to the guidelines, pollution caused by the widespread use of plastic, especially from single-use plastic products, is posing a serious threat to the environment and public health. In order to stop the use of single-use plastics for the purpose of controlling environmental pollution, the adviser of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate has requested to use alternative products instead of using single-use plastics through a semi-official letter.

The instructions are:

1. Using files and folders made of paper or other environmentally friendly materials instead of plastic files and folders.

2. Use cotton or jute fabric bags instead of plastic bags.

3. Use glass bottles and glasses instead of plastic water bottles.

4. Use banners made of cotton or jute fabric or biodegradable material instead of plastic banners.

5. Avoid plastic laminated on invitations, visiting cards and various types of brochures.

6. To ensure that food packets provided in various meetings or seminars are made of paper and environment friendly.

7. Avoid all types of products including single-use plastic plates, glasses, cups, cutlery.

8. Using pencils or paper pens instead of plastic pens.

9. Avoiding the use of laminated wrapping and plastic in all types of publications including annual reports.

10. Stop using plastic in flower bouquets.
