Nabinagar-Chandra highway is operational after 52 hours


Finally, the workers have withdrawn the blockade in Ashulia with the assurance of the army. On Wednesday (October 2) around 12:30 noon, the workers moved away from the road and took a stand in front of the factory. As a result, the Nabinagar-Chandra highway became operational after 52 hours. At present, additional members of law enforcement forces have been deployed in the entire area.

The workers said that around 12 noon, army personnel and law enforcement officers came to the spot and asked them to withdraw the blockade from the road. At one stage, the army officials said that the chairman of the Birds group has been detained. Road traffic should be normalized to bring him to the factory. After that, the workers left the road. They went to the main gate of the factory and took position.

 

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Savar Circle of Dhaka District Police. Shahinur Kabir said that traffic started on the road with the efforts of police, BGB, RAB and army. However, there is still traffic pressure on the road. Traffic police are starting work to normalize the situation.

 

Earlier on Monday (September 30), workers blocked both lanes at the bipile point of the highway from 8 am. They were on the road even at night. The next day, Tuesday, he did not move from the road. They stayed on the road last Wednesday. Both sides of the road came to a standstill. The suffering of passengers increased to extremes.

The workers said four factories of Bird's group Bird's RNR Fashions Limited, Bird's Garments, Bird's FedEx and Bird's A&Z Limited announced closure for non-payment of dues.
