Mushfiqur helped Abahani to win


The most dependable batsmen of Bangladesh Cricket Team, Mushfiqur Rahim carried his form with the bat from the ODI series against Sri Lanka to propel Abahani Limited to a seven-wicket win against Partex Sporting Club at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the opening match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League on Monday.

Abahani bowlers Mohammad Saifuddin, Mehedi Hasan Rana, Taijul Islam and Arafat Sunny curbed the run-rate and were able to restrict Partex to 120 for five in the 20-over match. Mehedi bagged two wickets for 31 runs in three overs while Taijul Islam managed two for 12 runs in his four overs. Tasamul Haque's 54-ball 65 and Moin Khan's 22 off 25 were the most notable contributins in the Partex innings.

Rain interrupted proceedings and the match was curtailed three overs into Abahani chase with the score at 10 for 1. Abahani needed 60 runs from seven overs, Mushfiqur’s 38 off 26, laced with three fours and a six to carry his side home with four deliveries to spare. Mohammad Naim hit 19 off 17 while Najmul Hossain Shanto and Afif Hossain both fell after scoring 2. Both the morning matches at BKSP between Naeem Islam's Legends of Rupgonj face against Old DOHS led by Mominul Haque and Prime Doleshwar led by Marshal Ayub against Brothers were abandoned after first innings following rain.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy struck 78 off 55, laced with seven fours and two sixes as Old DOHS put on 171 for four in 20 overs before the match was abandoned at BKSP ground 3. Brothers managed 127 for 7 in 18.4 overs before the game was abandoned after morning showers. Junaid Siddique struck 48 off 50 for Brothers while Mohammad Sharifullah and Kamrul Islam Rabbi bagged two wickets for Prime Doleshwar.
