Morris takes Rajasthan to a famous win against Delhi

Chris Morris, David Miller and Jaydev Unadkat starred for Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the Sanju Samson-led side defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 7th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. While Morris gave the finishing touch with his 36* off 18 in the chase to the target of 148, Miller kept RR in the hunt by scoring 43-ball 62.

Playing his comeback game, Unadkat delivered a Player of the Match performance and scalped 3 wickets for just 15 runs in his four overs. It was the first occasion this season when none of the teams touched the 180-run mark at the Wankhede Stadium. RR have climbed to the 5th spot with this win while DC are at the 4th spot. Here's are 3 highlights from RR vs DC match - 3 days back, it was at the same venue where skipper Sanju Samson took the onus and faced the final with an aim to clear the fence. RR needed 5 off 2. He could have easily moved to the other end as there was an opportunity to run a single. But Samson chose to stay. He couldn't generate enough power and RR lost by 4 runs. Although RR weren't in a final-ball situation against DC, they needed 12 off the final over. And not one, Morris hit 2 sixes on the first fours balls on the 20th over to seal it for RR, announcing that the captain can trust him if the situation arises in the coming matches.

Morris walked out to bat with reeling at 90/6. Once they lost Miller for 62, it was all about Morris and he slammed at 200.00, thus justifying his Rs 16.25 crore price tag. The RR-DC fixture turned out to be a low-scoring thriller, which would upset many fans. The same track produced oodles of runs in the first 2 matches but that wasn't the case yesterday (April 15). So who's at fault? Is the pitch to be blamed for this low-scoring game at a venue where the runs have flown or the batsmen? As per Unadkat it was the batsmen's fault. Speaking to the official broadcaster after the 1st innings, Unadkat said that it was the similar track used for the first game and that DC's batsmen were playing with hard hands. “It (pitch) felt it was similar to what I saw from outside in the first game. There was good carry, there was some movement at the start too. It's a great surface to play cricket on. It was something which we planned in our meetings, we wanted not to give them the extra bit of pace all the time. Their batsmen were all playing with hard hands,” he said. Wankhede Stadium has hosted 3 matches so far. In the first fixture between DC and Chennai Super Kings, both teams produced a tally of 378 runs. In the 2nd game between RR and Punjab Kings, mammoth 438 runs were scored. And in the 3rd game, both the teams struggled to even reach the 150-mark. Surely, there were some flaws in the batting.
