Modi to be sworn for third term on June 8
Narendra Modi is set to take oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term even if they don't get an absolute majority.
Modi will be sworn in for his new term as prime minister on June 8, local TV channels report on Wednesday (June 5).
According to the Hindustan Times, met the President Droupadi Murmu today (June 5) and tendered his resignation along with the Council of Ministers. The President has accepted the resignation and requested Shri Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers to continue till the new Government assumes office.
Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 240 seats in the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections. The party needed 272 seats to get an outright majority.
According to the Election Commission of India, the Congress alone won 99 seats. This is the party's best result since 2009.
