Mild heat wave likely to continue: Met office


Bangladesh Meteorological Department today (June 5) predicted the ongoing mild heat wave is likely to continue over five places of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today.

According to the BMD weather bulletin, mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Jashore and Chuadanga and it may continue. Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country. Due to excessive moisture content the discomfort may persist.

"Light to moderate rain thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rajshahi Chattogram and Dhaka divisions and at one or two places over Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions," it added.

Country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 36.7 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga. While, today's minimum temperature 22.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Kurigram.

Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing 6 am today was recorded 143mm jointly at Sylhet and Moulavibazar.

The sun sets at 6:44 pm today and rises at 5:10 am tomorrow in the capital.
