Met office forecasts rains in eight divisions


Bangladesh Meteorological Department today (July 28) predicted light to moderate and moderately heavy to heavy rainfall or thundershowers with temporary gusty wind at places over all eight divisions of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today.

According to the BMD bulletin, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barisal and Chattogram divisions; at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Khulna, Barisal and Chattogram divisions. 

The existing mild heat wave which is sweeping over Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Tangail, Kishoreganj, Rajshahi and Bogra may abate from some places, it added.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 37.8 degrees Celsius in Dimla while today's minimum temperature 25.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bandarban.

Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing 6 am today was recorded 28 mm in Satkhira.

The sun sets at 6:27 pm today and rises at 5:44 am tomorrow in the capital.
