Mangal Shobhajatra to be brought out in limited scale

The Dhaka University authorities have decided to organise ‘Mangal Shobhajatra’ in a limited scale celebrating the Pohela Boishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year, considering the pandemic situation.

A symbolic Mangal Shobhajatra will be held on the premises of university’s fine arts faculty with participation of only 100 people maintaining all health guidelines and the procession will not go out of the faculty premises.

The decision came from a virtual meeting, chaired by university’s Vice Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzaman, held today at Abdul Matin virtual Classroom, said a press release.

DU Pro-VC Dr Mohammad Samad, Treasurer Mamtaj Uddin Ahmed, Dean of Fine Arts Faculty Nisar Hossain, DU Teachers Association President Dr Rahmat Ullah, DUTA Secretary Dr Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan, faculty deans, provosts, senate and syndicate members were also present in the meeting.

The DU authorities requested everyone to avoid mass gatherings on the day and enjoy the program from home as it will be aired on Television.
