LPG price drops to Tk64 per cylinder

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has adjusted the price of the country's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the second time since April, following the price fall in global market.

In the private sector, the price of 12 kg LPG cylinder including VAT has been reduced from Tk906 to Tk842.

This is the maximum retail price for LPG in the country which will come into effect from 1 June, BERC announced the new prices at an online press conference on Monday.

However, the price of state-owned LPG will remain the same as the cost has not changed at the production stage.

The official price of 12 kg state-owned LPG has remained at Tk 591, while the new price of LPG used in cars has been increased to Tk41.74 per liter from Tk44.70 per liter.

The energy regulator had fixed the price of LPG for the first time in the country on 12 April.

At that time, it was said that the price would be adjusted every month in line with the world market.

Besides, a one-time price adjustment was made on 29 April.
