Local administration can declare lockdown: Cabinet secretary

Local administration, civil surgeon and local representative can jointly declare lockdown in an entire district or in a particular place if Covid-19 situation turns serious there.

Cabinet Secretary Khandakar Anwarul Islam briefed journalists after the weekly Cabinet meeting today.

The government has instructed the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to arrange treatment to critically ill coronavirus-infected patients, the secretary said.

The DGHS has also been asked to send the patients to nearby medical college hospitals if anyone needs oxygen support, he added.
