Kumudini Welfare, JAAGO to get Japan grants
Japan has extended a grant of approximately Tk 70 lakh to Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal (BD) Ltd and Tk 20 lakh to JAAGO Foundation Trust through Grassroots Human Security Projects. Ambassador Ito Naoki signed the grant contracts at the Embassy of Japan with Rajiv Prasad Shaha, managing director of Kumudini Welfare Trust, and with Korvi Rakshand Dhrubo, chairman of JAAGO Foundation Trust, said a press statement on Wednesday.
Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal (BD) Ltd has been awarded a grant for "Project for Installation of Central Oxygen Supply System at Kumudini Hospital in Tangail District".
Kumudini has been operating to ensure the health and socio-economic welfare of poor and vulnerable women through its hospital, educational institutions, and training facilities. With the assistance of the funding, Kumudini will procure and install medical oxygen storage pressure vessels and gas pipeline that will ensure adequate oxygen supply and medical care to critically ill patients and others at Kumudini Hospital.
JAAGO has been awarded the grant for "Project for Providing Bus Service for Students and Community Teachers in Bandarban District". Since its establishment in 2007, JAAGO has been working to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged children and promoting volunteer youth activities.
JAAGO, with the assistance of the funding, will support the students and community teachers of its JAAGO Bandarban School with a school bus to travel to and from the remote location to the school, the statement added.
