Kazi Jesin Awarded Excellence in Journalism
Popular television journalist Kazi Jesin has been given the Excellence in Journalism award by the Bangladesh Women Journalists’ Forum for her significant contribution in television journalism. The Bangladesh Women Journalists’ Forum has been giving the award since 2017 to prominent journalists who have been significantly contributing to the media. Kazi Jesin has demonstrated her success in making several channels very popular. The channels she worked at are National Television Channel (NTV), Channel-1, Ekushey TV, Banglavisionand Jamuna TV. She is also a poet.
Kazi Jesin is treated to be one of the most prominent anchors of the industry who has introduced a political talk show in 2006 first as a female. During the 16 years of her career in journalism, she has faced numerous challenges due to having a bold and uncompromising journalistic ethics. Her conducted shows made headlines on the national newspapers several times, especially her show Point of Order – which earned historical success in the context of Bangladesh. This is proven by the impressive number of civil society members who appealed to resume the show when Kazi Jesin declined to have the edited version aired.
Kazi Jesin’s contribution to the field of journalism in Bangladesh goes beyond the typical and book-written duties of a journalist, as she thrives to make the individuals in power more accountable to their actions. Her work is appreciated and greatly respected by a wide range of viewers. Her shows not only set a trend in the media industry, but also raises the standard of informative shows. While asked about her future plan Jesin replied,“a long way to go, and there are so many interesting things to do that I’m dreaming of.”
