Joy pays tribute to language martyrs
The Prime Minister's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy has paid tribute to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day.
Highlighting the heroic role of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in catalysing the movement to uphold the mother tongue, Joy shared part of an animated film titled 'Mujib - My Father' in a Facebook post from his verified account.
The film, made under the supervision of the ICT Division, portrayed the charismatic leadership demonstrated by Bangabandhu in the historic language movement and how he has been the victim of West Pakistan's wrath.
The film posed the questions: "How were the days during the language movement? How did young student leader (Father of the Nation Bangabandhu) Sheikh Mujibur Rahman organize students for the struggle? Why was he imprisoned for the entire three years between 1949 and 1952?" and later, answered all of them.
The film recreated the fiery historic moments of the language movement when Dhaka was seething with protests against the declaration "Urdu would be the only state language of entire Pakistan" which was announced neglecting tens of millions of Bangla-speakers.
Later, Joy recalled the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs of the historic Language Movement on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day.
