Journalist killed in Kushtia


Journalist Jamil Hasan Khan Khokon, the Kushtia district correspondent of News 24 and editor of the local daily Swarnajug, claimed that his elder brother Nafiz Ahmed Khan Titu had filed a general diary at the Kushtia Model Police Station claiming that he had been killed in a premeditated manner. 

He mentioned the names of Four accused in the allegation and 10-12 more have been made unidentified accused. Among the four are President of Journalists Union Kushtia, President of Kushtia Press Club (KPC) and Awami League leader Rashedul Islam Biplob, Kushtia correspondent of Independent Television Milon Ullah, Salman Shaharia Raju and Rakibul Hasan.

According to the complain, Rashidul Uslam Biplob called Jamil Hasan Khokon to his house at Arshinagar Bhaban in East Majampur on the night of May 12. At one stage of the argument, Rashedul Islam Biplob first pushed my brother Khokon hard and when the others grabbed him. Khokon lost consciousness on the spot. Khokon was first admitted to Kushtia General Hospital but later shifted to Dhaka Neuro Science Hospital after his condition deteriorated. Khokon died on the night of May 14 at one stage of treatment. He added that Biplob had already attacked my brother two more times.
