Jamaat's 10 proposals for state reform
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has proposed reforms in 10 sectors including law and justice, parliament, election system, law and order, public administration, corruption, constitution, foreign affairs, religion, education and culture. In a press conference at an elite hotel in the capital on Wednesday afternoon, Naib Amir of the party presented these proposals. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher.

Dr. proposed reforms. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher said that extensive reforms are needed to conduct the elections properly. Judiciary should be reformed. A law commission should be constituted under the Supreme Court. The Cyber Security Act should be repealed. High Court Benches should be constituted at the divisional level. The case must be settled within a maximum of five to three years. Adequate time should be given to the opposition in Parliament.
He said, for fair elections, the caretaker system should be permanently added to the constitution. The National Assembly elections must be held in one day. No government employee can participate in parliamentary elections before three years of retirement. An independent police commission should be formed. Religious education should be introduced in the police. Presence of family representative should be ensured during remand. RAB should be reformed. So that confidence in the army returns. In this case, those who have served earlier cannot be kept in the force.
Dr. Taher said that competence, efficiency and integrity should be prioritized in public administration. Application for government jobs is free. No fees may be retained. For the next 2 years I propose to make the service age 35 years, then permanently 33 years and retirement age 62 years. Inter-cadre disparity in employment should be eliminated. Those who have committed corruption and wrongdoing should be expelled from the service. ACC should appoint competent, efficient and honest persons. A person cannot be prime minister for more than two consecutive terms. The history of the 2024 coup and the biography of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) should be included in the textbooks of all classes.
He also said that the culture should be reformed. Instead of building idols of animals, indigenous culture should be developed. A balanced relationship should be maintained in foreign affairs. Agreements executed during the previous government should be reviewed. A review commission may be constituted for this purpose. Bangladesh should be included as a member of ASEAN.
