How to keep yourself healthy in this intense heat?
As stated by Amir Hossan of Dhaka. Uneasy public life has happened due to sudden increase in heat level. Intense heat has been raging in different parts of the country for a week now. Meanwhile, on April 26, the capital Dhaka broke the record of the last 28 years and the highest temperature rose to 40.8 degrees Celsius. This April, the maximum temperature of the day has risen from normal to 3.9 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 7.8 degrees Celsius. The data came from the temperature index recorded by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department from April 1-26.
Suddenly people of all ages, including children and the elderly, fell ill in the scorching heat. If you are not careful during this time, there is a possibility of dehydration, indigestion or heatstroke. In this situation, special attention should be paid to the health of everyone. This time, according to the report of BBC Bangla, the ways to stay healthy in the heat were highlighted.
Ways to stay healthy in extreme heat:
Heat management:
The internal temperature of the human body is usually around 36 degrees Celsius. The cooling temperature for this is between 20-28 degrees Celsius. If the humidity in the air is within 60 degrees Celsius, then the body is within tolerance. If the temperature and humidity in the air is more than that, then the body cannot tolerate it. Just then various problems including discomfort occur.
When the temperature is higher than 41 degrees Celsius, the risk of heatstroke increases in people. So heat management is the main task during hot weather. This time you need to take measures to reduce the heat.
Consumption of water and aquatic foods:
To prevent dehydration during hot weather, one has to take plenty of water and aquatic food. Drinking water, saline, fruit juice, sherbet and coconut provide the necessary moisture to the body. Aquatic vegetables and fruits can also be eaten. Such as watermelon, pineapple, grapefruit, apple. As a result of eating more vegetables, digestion is completed smoothly. This reduces the discomfort of the body. According to experts, the issue of dehydration is very important. Because, dehydration leads to stroke.
Stay away from sunlight:
When the temperature is high during the day, it is better not to go in direct sun or to refrain from overwork. In our country, the temperature of the sun is intense from 11 am to 3 pm. Umbrellas, hats and shoes should be used to go out in the sun at this time. And to keep your eyes well, use sunglasses and keep a water bottle with you.
Say no to fried and junk food:
It is better not to eat fried or junk food in extreme heat. This type of food raises the body temperature. It is also high in calories, sodium and saturated fats. These foods cause high body temperature as well as the risk of indigestion.
Cool accommodation:
In order to keep the living space or house cool, it is necessary to make arrangements for air to enter the house. There is no problem if there is less light in the house during the day, it will keep the house cold. It is better to have trees inside the house. The tree absorbs heat. If the floor of the house is ripe, wipe it for a while, it will keep the house cool.
Also, if one has shortness of breath, chest pain, weakness, dizziness or sudden dizziness in hot weather, then immediate medical advice should be sought without delay.
