Guardianless drama today

The National Film Award winning actor Chanchal Chowdhury has been paying close attention to the story of each play, the characters from the very beginning of his acting career, arriving on time at the shooting, memorizing the script and above all preparing for a play. But it has been observed that with the exception of a few playwrights, he is no longer able to find many characters in the story of the play. So Chanchal Chowdhury wrote a status on May 8, the birthday of the legendary actress Sharmili Ahmed, emphasizing the story of the play and asking for the return of other necessary characters including parents, grandparents, grandparents in the play.

The main theme of the play was to return the characters of father, mother, grandparents. Chanchal Chowdhury wrote in Bangla, “we are without a 'father-mother family'. When my acting journey started, most of the drama movies were social and family. How many characters, grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters. There was a constant presence of many characters in our dramas. Almost every drama or movie was a real reflection of the running society and Bengali culture. How did all those days end in time! Most of the characters are now missing in our play. Most of the dramas are based on two characters.”

He wrote, “But lately we see horrible images in family or social drama stories. Grandparents, are missing. If there is a character of father in the play, mother is dead, if there is character of mother, father is afterlife. Where parents can't be found together, where will the siblings come from? It is needless to say about other characters. Among the many reasons, the collection of footage in the name of drama, which is considered to be responsible for the scarcity of production budget and saving of cost. Many senior artists are living with dissatisfaction and frustration; some have even left the world. Many experienced and senior artists are not called upon to perform. In this way, our dramas have become guardianless today.”
