Fresh raid on illegal clinics from today

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will once again launch a raid operation against illegal diagnostic centres and clinics from today (Monday).

DGHS Additional Director General (Administration) Ahmedul Kabir confirmed the matter on Sunday afternoon.

He said: “I will give instructions to all concerned in this matter. The operation will be the same as it was conducted three months ago.”

Dr Ahmedul also mentioned: "Earlier, we conducted the operation within 72 hours. But this campaign will be run for 96 hours. Then we will sit next Saturday or Sunday with the summary of the campaign.”

“The health minister is taking a strict position on this matter. He asked us to run the campaign more vigorously than before,” the DGHS official added.

According to DGHS, a total of 1,641 health institutions were closed in the last campaign. As a result of the campaign, a revenue of Tk 25 crore was generated from the registration application. 

Besides, 1,986 other institutions are awaiting inspection for new licenses while 2,017 institutions are awaiting inspection for license renewal.
