Foolproof security over rallies on both sides of the Padma Bridge
Tight security measures have been taken to ensure safety and security inside and outside the venues of the Padma Bridge inaugural ceremony, as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to open the bridge on June 25 morning.
According to the Home Ministry’s Public Relation Officer Sharif Mahmood Apu, the law enforcement agencies will take strict measures to ensure foolproof security surrounding the areas of the venues on both the sides of the Padma Bridge.
He informed the journalists emerging from a meeting on law and order centering the inaugural ceremony of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge, held at the ministry conference room.
Chaired by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, the meeting was convened to ensure foolproof security centering the inauguration ceremony of the Padma Bridge.
The meeting said that on the day of inauguration of the Padma Bridge, tight security measures will be taken as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, members of the cabinet, Parliament Members (MPs), eminent politicians and diplomats will join the programme and stay for few hours there.
Besides, strict security measures will also be taken at various venues and surrounding areas at Mawa and Janjira ends of the Padma Bridge.
The law enforcement agencies will work in coordination all concerned to the ensure the safety and security.
The meeting was informed that intelligence activities have been intensified to prevent any sort of sabotage activities at the venue or adjoining the Padma Bridge.
Police control room will be installed at both the sides of the bridge to ensure overall security of the bridge and programmes.
Members of the River Police and Fire service and Civil Defence will be deployed to rescue and prevent accidents on river route and avoid extra passengers on water transports.
The meeting also instructed to ensure smooth traffic management on highways while during the visit at Janjira and Mawa points and ensure parking arrangement for motor vehicles of the guests and visitors.
The inauguration of the bridge will have a sufficient number of volunteers along with the law enforcement agencies. There will be emergency services such as ambulance, first aid, water, mobile toilets etc.
Senior Secretary to the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry Md Akhter Hossain, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benzir Ahmed, chiefs of all intelligence agencies were present at the meeting.
