Fire at garment factory in Ashulia

Six firefighting units have brought the blaze under control after three-hour effort

A fire has broken out at an apparel factory in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

The incident took place at the Silver Apparels Ltd located in Zirabo area around 5am on Saturday.

Jahangir Alam, senior station officer at the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) Fire Service and Civil Defence, said six firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 8am.

No casualty was reported in the incident, he said.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be known immediately.
