False information is being spread about the number of policemen killed in July-August
The Office of the Chief Adviser has said that false and incorrect information is being spread about the number of policemen killed in the July-August uprising.
On Friday (October 25), the Office of the Chief Adviser, citing the police headquarters, stated that the number of policemen killed was 44. The list of 44 policemen killed with details (name, title, which unit they were working in, location and date of death) has been published.
At the same time, the Chief Adviser's office said, "It has been noticed that some news outlets and some individuals are deliberately spreading false and incorrect information about the number of policemen killed in the July-August student-led uprising." The police headquarters has released the actual list of police officers killed in the uprising.
The police department meticulously maintains a list of officers or constables who have been injured or killed in protest or violence. If anyone claims that there have been police deaths outside of this list in the uprising, evidence is called for.
